Compressing images for Websites
If you have ever created a Webpage that looks great but takes a longer than desired time to load, try compressing your images. By doing this you can dramatically reduce the size of the image file without compromising quality.
I used Photoshop for this process.
1 - Open up image in Photoshop
2 - click File
3 - click Save for Web & Device
4 - click on 4-up view, this allows you to compare different variations of the image
5 - I use jpeg with a quality of 50, this is adjusted in the dropdown in the upper right of screen
6 - save the file
And example of the savings is going from 117k to 3.95k without losing discernible quality! Your Website will load MUCH faster and the customer will have a better experience.
